Eliza!

Heart of stone!

On a misty morning, with the dewdrops falling.
Eliza heard a darkest, deepest calling.
At the age of three, voices met with glee.
A certain red flower cast a spell on her.

Disa aconitoides possessed her deepest self.
As the years kept passing by her beauty sparkled like the stars.
More radiant than the waxing moon.
Yet Eliza built a fortress ‘round her icy soul

Young men from afar would come to court for her hand.
Asmodeus planted seeds of vanity and sorcery.
One day Eliza trapped a rat and watched it starve to death.
She felt dark control and to later turn into woe.

When the next lad came and pleaded for her love,
Her instruction made him ponder more than once.
He walked up to the family cat with a butcher’s knife in his hand... shaking!

The young man could not present the cat’s head on a stake.
Not even for her heart could he commit a heinous act.

She felt true pity for him.
Her expectations were much more.
Petals reflecting moonlight.
The spirit dwells within her dreams.

Eliza felt the presence of a dismal kind.
Sorrow and deepest grief surrounded her sleep.
Emotions of utter loss filled her burdened soul.
These feelings were unknown yet strangely familiar ....
